Billy J. Disc Jockeys

Great DJ! Kept the party going all night! Billy went out of his way to help coordinate our ceremony, since we had a more unusual set-up.

Billy J had us fill out a detailed form with all of our fav songs and ideas and we thought he was going to be really good and the dancing at our wedding would be fantastic...it was anything but. Everyone is talking about how everything at our wedding was phenomenal--except the dj. People found him self-promoting and rude. He ignored our songs, forgot to announce a special birthday, and did a crummy job with introductions. He was doing his own thing and completely forgot why he was there. He is really good, however, at eating your food and drinking your booz and of course collecting your money. Thank goodness he had nothing to do with our ceremony and the food we had was unbelievable, otherwise the entire wedding would have been a flop. Someday I hope to be able to laugh about the aweful dj....but it won't be any time soon.

Would not recommend to friends, disorganized and unprofessional.

I was in my cousin's wedding this summer where Billy J was the dj. I couldn't help but notice how goofy he was when he introduced all of the grandparents....particularly when he introduced our great gramma...he then asked her what year she was born in as she was walking past him....and it wasn't in a very nice or respectful way. My relatives thought he was mocking her and my gramma thought the dj was drunk (so she ignored him). Anyway, all of our aunts and uncles got up and left early, taking gramma with them. It was sad....I've been in 3 weddings and I have never seen anything like that before. We all just wanted to say "shut up and just play some music!"

Billy J is an excellent DJ. He is extremely professional and makes everything flow together well. My only complaint is that when he does the final talk with you he talks about tipping. He says you are to tip the DJ and photographer and so on an so on. As a owner of a company, you do not accept tips especially when the service is being paid for. I thought that was rather rude.

Billy J was very nice and knowledgeable but I feel the same as a previous bride had mentioned, he didn't listen! I made up a very specific list of songs that I and my family/friends would like to hear at the reception and he only played very few of them. We also discussed before the wedding the "flow" of the music at the reception. I was very specific that I wanted to hear older, classic songs first to get all of our guests involved then move towards more "contemporary" or dance hits of today for us and our younger guests. What did he do? He played Lady Gaga as one of the first songs of the night...actually two Lady Gaga songs in a row! I love her but this wasn't the time or place and it wasn't what we had discussed. Also, I had my heart set on a certain song for our "Last Song" and emailed it to him prior. He did not come with that song or cd at all and it wasn't anything obscure. I just feel that he didn't play what we wanted but rather played what he thought we should want. It was just really disappointing. He had some good suggestions for our reception re: logistics but as for music selection it was not what I had in mind. In short, I would not recommend his services.

If you want a "cheesey" DJ than Billy J is your guy. We spent the evening arguing with him because he insisted on sticking to his written itinery even though it was completely wrong. He played all the songs requested for the dinner hour during the dancing and at one point was on the dance floor asking our guests to chant his name. Really? I thought a wedding was about the bride and groom. The two things about the wedding that our guests still talk about are the bad DJ and my drunk sister-in-law!

Over all Billy J was really good. There were a few little things that bothered me... He wasn't taking requests from the guests and he played a few songs in twice in a row because he seen people dancing to them. There were other songs that could have been played at the time. Also, he took a 2nd tip which was not intentional. Thats mostly our faults but he could have said he got a tip already.He was a good DJ and got everyone on the dance floor. He even stayed a little later then he was suppossed to play the songs I wanted played. ( Maybe bc of the good tip)

Great DJ!!! I have never seen people get up so fast to dance. He really kept everything going and everyone on the dance floor. Would recommend him to anyone!

Billy J did a spectacular job on my October 2008 wedding. I can not stress how easy he made things from start to finish. Every vendor had a copy of what was going on and at what time, every name was pronounced correctly, and more importantly, everyone was dancing! The thing that he fails here to mention is that he has a degree in engineering... So when I asked him to do my event (in a place that other DJ's called an 'accoustic nightmare' because of the marble floor and walls) he was able to do it right and make it sound spectacular! The DJ makes or breaks your (very expensive) first party as husband and wife, this is not a place where you want to take chances or worry. You will not go wrong putting your wedding or event in his hands.

We were very disappointed with the DJ service that was provided. The songs that were on a do not play list were played and the music we wanted played was only played after I (the bride) requested it. We thought that Billy J was going to be our DJ because that was who we requested and then the night of the wedding we had someone totally different. I would not recommend Billy J Disc Jockeys to anyone that I knew- I would have gotten the same service from a lower rated DJ that didn't charge us $1300.00, overall we were very disappointed.

He was pretty organized and seems to know what he is doing. Very professional. He comes on a little strong because he's been in the business for a while and tries to take over a little bit and it's a little much. I understand the dj is a huge part of how the reception is organized and how everything goes but don't tell me how to tip people, I know how to tip and I tip well! I was a server for 3 years! lol. Also I had to tell him things and correct him several times sometimes and I still wasn't convinced he knew what I wanted half the time. I felt like he wasn't paying attention.. for example, we asked him to play a couple different bands for dinner music and he picked one of them and played it the whole time.. and it was suppose to be my husbands favorite band and my favorite band, so I was a little upset when he didn't play mine at all!! ;). I was nervous the whole limo ride to the ceremony about the dj skrewing things up! But I got over it! lol. Also I found it kind of interesting when someone would request a well known song and he would stare blankly, like he never heard of it! Oh and in both emails he sent me the week of the wedding he kept saying see you Saturday which made me a little nervous because the wedding was on Friday!!!Now that I've vented about all the little things that bothered me, I have to say that I would recommend Billy J because he was professional, organized, came on time, set up early, and worked with last minute changes. The sound quality in the venue was excellent. And the price was really good compared to other djs I looked into.

Overall, I was very happy with Billy J DJ. When planning the details for the reception, they went though every detail and gave me an itinerary of how the evening would play out. We advised him what songs we wanted and told them to take requests from the guests. I was slightly disappointed with our DJ though...he had the itinerary with a list of things that he was supposed to announce and I was a bit annoyed that I have to remind him to announce a couple of things. (i.e.- someone from each table was to take the centerpiece home as a gift and he forgot to tell them that, so I had to remind him) Also, my husband and I were supposed to do a toast and he skipped that part of the reception. Overall, I was happy with the service and the music they played.

It's not an event without Billy J Disc Jockeys!

If you choose Billy j, you must be firm and specific about what you want him to do, what time you want him to do it, and in general how you want your music to flow. He is a poor listener and he does like to talk alot....I felt like he was doing a "show" and may have forgotten the evening was about the bride and groom, the guests, and having a wonderful array of music reflecting not only the bride and groom's taste but also taking into consideration the guests and various cultural backgrounds. I mean, this is why I chose a dj in the first place---because then we could have all kinds of music. Unfortunately, we didn't get what we paid for. I guess my advice is, don't choose a dj without seeing him in action first.
